This morning, I was pleased to join Hamilton City Manager Janette Smith in her first City Manager’s Breakfast.

The City Manager’s Breakfast is hosted each year by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and provides the City Manager an opportunity to reflect on the past year and provide insight to where she sees challenges and opportunities into the future.

Protests Intolerance and Hate At Mohawk College Event

Hello, Ward 8 Neighbours!

On Sunday, September 29th a contentious political speaking event was held at the Mohawk College McIntyre Performing Arts Centre.

Event attendees were met by a large group of approximately 100 protesters as they entered the building. Hamilton Police and Mohawk College Security Services were onsite to ensure community safety and well-being for protesters and attendees.

Hamilton Planning Update to Long Term Growth and Development Strategy (GRIDS2)

Hello, Ward 8 Neighbours!

The City of Hamilton has begun a comprehensive review of our City’s long term development strategy to accommodate population and employment growth to 2041: GRIDS2 (Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy – click here for more information).

This is an update to the original GRIDS planning strategy which was approved by Hamilton City Council in 2006 and planned for growth until 2031.

10 Story Rental Apartment Building Application for West 5th and Stone Church

Hello, Ward 8 Neighbours!

T. Valeri Construction and Valery Homes has applied for zoning changes to allow for the construction of a 10-storey, 237-unit rental apartment building at the south-east corner of West 5th and Stone Church Road West in Ward 8, Hamilton.

The proposed development also includes 241 parking spaces (70 surface and 171 underground). To facilitate this proposal, planning applications were submitted to the City of Hamilton on April 23, 2019 by the developer’s consultant Urban Solutions Planning & Land Development.

Hamilton Climate Change and Municipal Leadership Event November 4th

Hello, Ward 8 Neighbours!

As part of a commitment to lead the fight against Climate Change, Councillors from Wards 1, 2, 3 & 8 will host Dianne Saxe, International Lawyer and former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario to speak about best practices in Canadian cities and the steps municipalities must take in order to deal with the climate emergency.

A panel discussion with Dr. Saxe, Councillors Wilson, Nann, Danko, Farr, and Environment Hamilton on the theme of the responsibility and scope of municipal leadership in a climate emergency will follow.

Speed Cushions added To Queensdale Avenue to Slow Down Speeders in Ward 8

New Warehouse and Industrial Development at Hamilton Airport

Munro Hamilton International Airport for the groundbreaking of the first phase of a new 80 acre development with up to 1.6 million square feet of warehouse and industrial space in the Airport Employment Growth District (AEGD).
