Portion of West 5th St. to be closed starting April 26th

Additional mobile pop-up vaccination clinics for community “hot spot” populations

This article from April 16 has details on mobile vaccination clinics, heading to local Hamilton “hot spots”, as well as news that those 50+ in “hot spots” are eligible to schedule a vaccine.

To increase vaccination rates in community hot spots, including additional mobile vaccination clinics will pop-up within these communities – including the L9C postal code in Ward 8.

Those born before and including 1971 and are 50+ or will be turning 50 this year, and live in a “hot spot”, are now eligible to schedule a vaccination appointment.

After more than a year of the COVID19 pandemic, we know that it has been an extremely trying time for Ward 8 residents.

With the changing restrictions throughout the year and now with the ongoing focus on vaccinations, it has been difficult to keep track of the most recent rules and regulations.

However, there is some good news to share!

The City of Hamilton and our community healthcare partners have been steadily working towards vaccinating a significant portion of Hamilton residents, and a large part of that work is happening right here in Ward 8.

Project Rolston Round-Up in conjunction with Project Strong, leads to multiple arrests, seizures

From October through December 2020, the West Mountain was one of the City’s “hotspots” when it came to gun and drug violence, especially in the Rolston neighbourhood. In response to concerns brought forth by residents and community leaders, Project Strong – and Project Rolston Round-Up – were created to respond to those concerns.

This past week, Detective Rodgers and the Hamilton Police shared the results of their months-long investigation with the community.

Vaccination update for Indigenous populations
