Hamilton council approves new city budget

City Council reduced and approved the City’s 2024 budget that will see a 5.8 per cent residential property tax increase, or about $286 more per household compared to last year – less than the 7.9% anticipated increase porposed at previous Council meetings.

Dundurn Stairs closure update

This post, from February 10, contains an update on the temporary closure of the Dundurn Stairs in June of 2023.

An incident involving a vehicle accident along the escarpment access of Garth Street and Beckett Drive, adjacent to the Dundurn Stairs, created concern as the stairs were damaged during the event. Although the stairs were re-opened soon afterwards, emergency measures were taken to ensure its engineering and structure were not compromised. $86.7 Million In City Infrastructure Work Scheduled for Ward 8 Within 6 Years
