Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
With COVID-19 making it impossible to gather as a community to celebrate Canada’s 153rd birthday, the City of Hamilton and its partners are connecting Hamiltonians in a different way this July 1st, with music and family-friendly activities to help you and your loved ones celebrate this milestone.
For more details, please continue reading below…
In the lead up to Canada Day, the City of Hamilton is encouraging Hamiltonians to show their Canada Day spirit and participate in the citywide door decorating challenge. Using the hashtag #HamOntCanadaDay, residents are encouraged to decorate their door with Canadian-style decor before 5pm on July 1. 10 winners will be selected at random to win an RBC prize pack.
Starting at 7pm, CHCH will be showcasing, both via cable and online, an eclectic mix of locally renowned Canadian artists, including rockers the Dirty Nil , soul artist John Ellison, R&B artist Queen Cee, the Hamilton Children’s Choir and Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra Brass Quintet, singer Harrison Kennedy, Tom Wilson and Terra Lightfoot. The show is being produced by Sonic Unyon Records.
In addition to door decorating and musical performances, residents are also in for a special treat as historical aircraft from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum will be doing a flyover, weather permitting.
Although this year will be unlike others while celebrating Canada Day, the Ward 8 office hopes you spend it safely, surrounded by those you enjoy.
