COVID-19: City of Hamilton Service Updates (Updated March 18)

As of March 17, 2020 all City of Hamilton facilities are completely closed to the public in response to COVID-19. This article outlines what is closed and what core services will be maintained.

Following an announcement from the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health late Monday, the City of Hamilton will completely close all municipal facilities to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until at least April 6, 2020.

This closure includes all municipal service centres, public counters and City Hall.

We are sailing in uncharted waters.

At the time of writing (11:00pm March 17, 2020) there were 15 confirmed positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hamilton with an increasing number of travel-related cases from the USA emerging.

Further, Hamilton Public Health Services (PHS) has identified one new COVID-19 case that is not travel related and may indicate person to person transmission within the community.

The City of Hamilton is taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our community and ensure we’re prepared to respond to this situation as it evolves.

COVID-19: Conservation Updates

The Hamilton Conservation Authority has committed to keeping all recreation areas accessible to the public for passive recreation such as hiking and bird watching. This article has the full statement from the HCA as of March 17th, 2020.

If you are practicing social distancing during the novel coronavirus outbreak (and you absolutely should be), it is still important to get outside for some fresh air, exercise and to re-connect with the amazing beautiful natural spaces we have in the City of Hamilton.

The Hamilton Conservation Authority advises that although their offices and services are closed, all conservation areas will remain accessible for passive recreation.
