Following an announcement from the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health late Monday, the City of Hamilton will completely close all municipal facilities to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until at least April 6, 2020.

We are sailing in uncharted waters.

At the time of writing (11:00pm March 17, 2020) there were 15 confirmed positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hamilton with an increasing number of travel-related cases from the USA emerging.

Further, Hamilton Public Health Services (PHS) has identified one new COVID-19 case that is not travel related and may indicate person to person transmission within the community.

The City of Hamilton is taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our community and ensure we’re prepared to respond to this situation as it evolves.

Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Signs and Symptoms – What to Do

The City of Hamilton now has it’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 likely due to person to person local transmission of the virus. Find out what the signs and symptoms are and what to do if you’re sick or think you may have come into contact with an infected person.

The City of Hamilton is experiencing a growing number of travel related COVID-19 cases, with an increasing number currently emerging from travel to the USA.

On March 17, 2020 Hamilton Public Health Services (PHS) identified the City’s first case of COVID-19 infection that is likely due to person to person local transmission within the community.

Hamilton Public Health advises that local infection within Hamilton is still unlikely, but with one local case confirmed, it is now a possibility.
