City launches “Budget 101”

This article, from February 11, contains details on a new FAQ page available to residents to better understand the budgetary process.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

With budget season in full swing, the City has launched an important and informative web page designed to answer your questions about the City’s 2021 municipal budget.

For more details, please continue reading below…

From plowing snow to turning the taps on at your local splash pad, to transit and infrastructure, to fire and police services, your tax dollars help run City services.

And as a tax payer, you place your trust in the City, its staff and its Council to ensure that they are providing you and your loved ones with the highest quality and efficient services available. This is accomplished through the City budget.

A municipal budget is a policy and planning document that outlines the City’s priorities. Balancing those priorities is a challenging undertaking. That’s because the City needs to identify what to do now to keep providing this high level of service to residents and plan on what the City needs to accomplish in the future. It’s also about what the City can afford to do.

With that in mind, the City has created a FAQ page, which has plenty of information for taxpayers. From this year’s budget presentations, to news releases to how tax dollars are allocated, the site offers plenty for residents interested in the budgetary process, as well as those looking to learn more into how the City plans its present and its future.

And as always, if you cannot find what you’re looking for to your question, please contact the Ward 8 office below.
