The Claremont Access will be re-opening to downbound traffic on Thursday, after its closure due to concerns about escarpment erosion.

Originally, the City was hoping for the lanes to re-open by October 31st, but due to inclement weather and additional work, the opening was delayed to November 9th.
The downbound lanes of the Claremont have been closed since early March when the city said it found “urgent erosion and slope stability” issues during a routine inspection.
Construction workers removed steel retaining walls and completed escarpment face clearing and scaling, made minor pavement repairs and repainted road markingsl.
The City appreciates the patience of community members and those commuters who were regular users of the Claremont Access.
