Construction taking shape in Bonnington

This post, from June 8, has details about ongoing construction in the Bonnington neighbourhood.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

Residents in Bonnington have surely noticed the construction crews working along Monarch Avenue, who are improving traffic safety measures in the area as well as resurfacing Monarch itself.

For more details, please continue reading below…

Back in January, the Ward 8 office shared details about the improvements to those neighbourhoods here:

This work is being funded from the Ward 8 Area Rating Reserve through a motion from Councillor Danko at Public Works Committee.

$3.5 million in further roadwork is currently scheduled for the Bonnington Neighbourhood, slated to begin in 2025.

I know that the roads in the Bonnington and Southam neigbourhoods are in poor condition and there are opportunities for complete streets safety improvements.

I would love to be able to repair and upgrade the roads in both neighbourhoods now, unfortunately the work included here is as much as can be funded from the limited Ward 8 area rating reserve account.

I anticipate further road safety improvements for both neighbourhoods during the 2022 construction season as a result of the Ward 8 Complete Streets Traffic Safety Review approved earlier this year – followed by reconstruction of the remaining streets in 2025.

Ward 8 Councillor John-Paul Danko, January 2021

The work will be continuing over the next few weeks.
