As part of its Ten Year Local Transit Strategy coming into effect on September 5, 2021, the HSR is announcing several service improvements; including a few for Ward 8 residents.

Ten Year Local Transit Strategy Service Improvement Highlights

  • Service changes to routes 11 Parkdale, 43 Stone Church and 44 Rymal will facilitate transfers at and adjacent to Heritage Greene Terminal and improve Mountain connectivity
  • Operational changes to improve bus reliability for customers
  • Enhancements to routes 20 A-Line (Upper James Corridor) and 44 Rymal operating on BLAST Network corridors
  • A $0.05 increase to non-cash fare options, including PRESTO and special purpose tickets, that will go into effect on Wednesday, September 1, 2021

A-Line service enhancements in Ward 8

Route 20 A-Line, which runs along Upper James St., will be increasing its stop frequency to every 15 minutes during weekday morning and afternoon peak periods. Service hours will also expand to include weekday evenings until approximately 10 pm with 30-minute frequency.

With improved frequency along the A-Line, this will allow travellers to connect to the new all-day hourly GO train service out of West Harbour GO Station to Union Station.

And to make the A-Line even more convenient, the route has extended to include stops at the Airport Employment District, in both north and southbound directions to John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (see graphic below).
