Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
As of June 30, Hamilton Bike Share is back in operation.
Riders will once again have access to SoBi bikes across the City after overwhelming support to continue operations by the community following Council’s decision on May 27 to not support Councillor Nann’s motion to save the popular bike sharing system.

Hamilton Bike Share is back!
JUNE 30 2020
HAMILTON, ON – Starting today, Hamilton Bike Share riders will once again have access to the fleet of bicycles following a pause of the system.
Individuals who had a bike share membership in the past and would like to continue riding can log in to their account online at www.hamiltonbikeshare.ca or on the Social Bicycles app and select a payment plan to re-subscribe to. New riders can also sign up on both the website and on the app. Hamilton Bike Share will continue to offer pay-as-you-go (15¢ per minute) and monthly ($20 per month) membership plans, as well as a new Seasonal Supporter plan ($100 for 6 months).
The relaunched system will be operated by local not-for-profit Hamilton Bike Share Inc. following Uber’s sudden closure of the public bike share system on June 1. The system will continue to span from Ottawa Street to Dundas with over 800 bikes and 130 hubs. The iconic blue bikes will be available to rent 24/7. Questions about accounts, accessing bikes or system operations can be directed to Hamilton Bike Share at firstname.lastname@example.org or 289-768-BIKE (2453) ext. 1.
“We are thrilled to partner with Hamilton Bike Share Inc. and bring Hamilton’s bicycle sharing service back online. We look forward to seeing the fleet of iconic blue bicycles back on our streets. If you are an existing member, we welcome you back, and to those interested in joining, the time is now to ‘Bike the Hammer!’”
– Mayor Fred Eisenberger

Bike share is an essential service. To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, Hamilton Bike Share is taking extra precautions, including to regularly sanitize touch surfaces when bikes are serviced. Furthermore, riders are encouraged to wash or sanitize hands before and after using the bikes, follow public health guidelines to maintain physical distancing, avoid touching their face, and staying home when sick.
