Hamilton Police investigating shooting incidents on the Mountain

Hamilton Police are investigating multiple shootings on the Mountain this past weekend. One shooting, which the Hamilton Police say was targeted, occurred in the area of Limeridge Road West and Britten Close.

Hamilton Police Investigate Shooting Incidents on the Mountain

Detectives from the Mountain Division Criminal investigations Branch are currently investigating two shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend. There were no reported injuries and area residents are asked to check their surveillance cameras and report any suspicious activity to police

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Limeridge Road West and Britten Close. The area was secured as evidence was located. There were no reported injuries. Police obtained information from witnesses that a lone suspect on the street discharged multiple rounds from a firearm, before fleeing the area. At this time, police are treating this incident as targeted. 

Suspect:

  • Male
  • Black,
  • In his 20’s,
  • Height 5’10”
  • Thin build,
  • Shiny black puffy jacket

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, shortly before 9:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of a firearm being discharged at a townhouse unit in the area of Upper Ottawa Street and Stone Church Road East. Once on scene, police learned the incident likely occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. that morning. Officers located evidence to confirm a single gunshot was fired at the front door of the unit. The occupants of the residence were asleep at the time of the shooting and were not injured. Police believe this incident was targeted.

Detectives from the Mountain Division Criminal Investigation Branch continue to investigate the two incidents. With the information available at this time, there is no evidence to link the incidents as related.

These incidents mark the 40 and 41 shooting occurrences for the year.

Hamilton Police are asking area residents to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact the detectives.
