Improvements slated at four Ward 8 parks

With a few play structures at certain Ward 8 parks nearing the end of their usable lifespan, Councillor Danko’s motion for new structures was unanimously passed at the July 5 Public Works Committee meeting.

As the play structures at Dr. William Bethune Park, Alison Park and T. Melvile Park have reached their end of their life cycle, Councillor Danko initiated a motion at the July 5 Public Works Committee seeking to replace the existing structures.

The motion, which can be viewed below and passed at the July 5th meeting, called for new play structures at T. Melville Park, Alison Park and Dr. William Bethune Park at a cost of $675,000 including contingency. The cost will be funded by the Ward 8 Special Capital Re-Investment Reserve Fund.

In addition to the new park infrastructure, $60,000 will be invested towards pathway replacement at Kennedy East Park through the Ward 8 Minor Maintenance Fund.
