Jane’s Walk taking place this weekend at Auchmar Estate

This post, from May 1, has information on Jane’s Walk, which will be hosted at the Auchmar Estate this coming weekend.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

Jane’s Walk Hamilton is back again this year, with Ward 8’s very own Auchmar Estate hosting walks on May 4 and 5.

For more details, please continue reading below…

Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), the namesake of Jane’s Walk, was an urbanist and activist whose writings championed a fresh, community-based approach to city building.

Jacobs was a firm believer in the importance of local residents having input on how their neighborhoods develop, Jacobs encouraged people to familiarize themselves with the places where they live, work, and play.

Jane’s Walk is a series of free neighborhood walking, biking, and transit tours that help put people in touch with their environment and with the people who live in their community.

The group’s mission is to help people walk, observe, and connect with their community and environment.  The group believes that walks inspire people to make a difference because they enable members of a community to discover and respond to the complexities of their city and environment through personal and shared observation.

Jane’s Walk will be taking place at the Auchmar Estate on 2pm on May 4th as well as the same time on May 5th.
