Join the conversation about community safety and well-being

This article, from November 9, has details about a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan being created by the City of Hamilton through its Engage Hamilton portal.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

The City of Hamilton is looking to engage residents as it works towards developing a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

For more details, please continue reading below…

Engage Hamilton states that a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan aims to create the community conditions where:

  • Everyone is safe and has a sense of belonging
  • Everyone has access to services; and
  • Individual and families can meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression.

This Community Safety and Well-Being Plan will be developed under the Province’s Safer Ontario Act, 2018 where municipalities are required to develop a Community Safety & Well-being Plan using the provincial government’s Community Safety and Well-Being Framework.

Now, Engage Hamilton wants you to join the community conversation!

From Engage Hamilton:

Community safety and well-being cannot be addressed in isolation by any one institution, organization, sector, or individual; it needs all our collective action. Hearing a range of perspectives will give us the best possible chance to find creative, meaningful and appropriate solutions to complex issues facing Hamilton. Throughout the planning process the thoughts, ideas, opinions of our various institutions, service providers, communities, and the general public will shape the plan, priorities, and strategies and actions.

Tell us what you think about community safety and well-being by posting and mapping your responses to the following questions:

  • What a safe community looks like to you?
  • What can be done in your community to achieve a better feeling of safety?

You can access the mapping and posting tools here. The engagement is running until November 27, 2020.
