New HSR 72-Hour Pass PRESTO E-Ticket

This post, from August 5, has information on the HSR’s new 72-hour pass.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

Whether you’re anticipating visitors to Hamilton, or looking for a way to enjoy a trip out without bringing your vehicle (SuperCrawl, perhaps?), the HSR is making things easier for visitors to the City and occasional transit users by introducing a 72-hour pass.

For more details, please continue reading below…

Explore Hamilton: 72 hours of unlimited rides for $15
The HSR’s new 72-hour E-Ticket pass gives transit users unlimited travel on all HSR buses.

With the pass, transit users will enjoy 72 hours of unlimited travel on HSR/ATS for only $15. This new promotion will run between August 1 and December 31, 2022 and is ideal for out-of-town guests visiting Hamilton for business, school, tourism or to visit family and friends, as well as those traveling in groups for sporting events or a night on the town. PRESTO E-Tickets can be purchased, stored and activated through the PRESTO E-Ticket app, available for download at your app store.

The 72-hour pass is part of the City’s HSR Fare Incentives for Ridership Recovery plan, which seeks to stimulate and grow ridership as we emerge from the pandemic and encourage more residents to use transit.

Easy to buy

PRESTO E-Tickets can be purchased, stored and activated all through the PRESTO E-Tickets app, available for download from your app store.

You can buy PRESTO E-Tickets using all major credit cards, as well as Debit Mastercard and Visa Debit. You’ll need access to the internet at the time of purchasing. PRESTO E-Tickets do not expire. Once you purchase one, it will remain in your account until you activate it. Saving it on your device means you can view and activate it without an internet connection.

PRESTO E-Tickets are final sale, and cannot be refunded. They are only valid if they are activated on a smartphone that you are carrying with you when you take transit. Printouts are not accepted.

Easy to use

Just before you board the bus, open the PRESTO E-Tickets app on your phone, select the E-Ticket you want to use and then select “Activate.”  The app will display a QR code that you will scan on the PRESTO machine.  An activated PRESTO E-Ticket on your smartphone is your proof-of-payment.

Once you activate, you can travel for up to two hours. The app will display the time when your travel window will expire and a countdown timer at the bottom of the activated ticket screen.
