Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
On February 6 we updated you about some big changes are coming to the Greeningdon neighbourhood. A brand new play structure will be returning to Ridgemount Elementary, which hasn’t had a structure since it was removed when the school expanded a few years ago.
The City of Hamilton has announced a Ridgemount Play Structure Replacement engagement session, which is set for March 5 (4pm-7pm) at Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

Passed at the February 3 Public Works Committee, the new playground at Ridgemount Elementary will be funded by the Ward 8 Area Rating Reserve account. Construction is anticipated to begin this coming summer.

There will be no operation or maintenance impact to the City as this new playground will be replacing a previously existing one. The anticipated cost of the playground will be $150, 000.

Ward 8 & 14 Trustee Becky Buck has been the one to lead this initiative and is facilitating the installation on HWDSB grounds. As of this time, it is not known where on the Ridgemount Elementary property this new playground will be installed.

There will be a call for public consultations into the design features of the new playground in the near future, so stay tuned to our website, newsletter or Twitter.
