Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
The City of Hamilton is looking for Snow Angel volunteers in your neighbourhood to help clear snow for eligible seniors and persons with disabilities.
For more details, please continue reading below…
Below is a message from the Snow Angel Program Coordinators:
We are looking for Snow Angel volunteers in your neighbourhood to help clear snow for eligible seniors and persons with disabilities. If you have the time to volunteer and the capacity to shovel snow, we can match you with someone in your neighbourhood requiring the support!
Our Snow Angel volunteers are asked to:
Clear snow from the walkways around the home;
Clear the windrow – a pile of snow left behind when snow plows clear the road;
Attend to the home when there is a minimum of a 3 cm snowfall;
Clear the snow within 24 hours of a snowfall.
Becoming a Snow Angel is a great way for families and friends to spend time together and for high school students to obtain their community service hours. Considering volunteering as a group or a team – many hands make light work! Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older, reliable and physically able to participate in snow removal.
Snow Angel volunteers will receive winter gear courtesy of Mark’s including a winter hat, winter gloves and warm socks. As well, matched Snow Angel volunteers will be invited to a volunteer appreciation event in the spring so that we can say “Thanks!” personally.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be involved with, please contact the Snow Angels program at http://www.hamilton.ca/snowangels and complete the online application. We will be in touch shortly thereafter to assign you a client. We can also be reached at NAS@hamilton.ca or 905-540-5711.
Thanks for your consideration!
