On June 29th, 2020 City of Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger along with the mayors and chairs of the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area municipalities (GTHA), issued a statement requesting the province make masks mandatory province wide.
Mask wearing has been identified by Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health as an important part of Hamilton’s COVID19 post-peak framework.

Statement By Ward 8 Councillor John-Paul Danko”A message from Ward 8 Councillor John-Paul Danko about the COVID-19 pandemic in Hamilton – new physical distancing and self isolation information, use of public spaces, support for local business, staying connected and ways to help out.
At the time of writing (9:00pm March 31, 2020), it’s been nearly three weeks since the City of Hamilton activated our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), and there are now 101 confirmed cases of COVID-19, nineteen hospitalizations (1 in 5) and one death in Hamilton.
A new epidemiological summary of COVID-19 cases in Canada released by the federal government indicates that 62% of all COVID-19 cases were related to community transmission – and it is important to remember that test results lag current trends and many who are sick are never tested.
In fact, Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health stated today that the actual number of COVID-19 infections in Hamilton is likely more than 1000.

We are sailing in uncharted waters.
At the time of writing (11:00pm March 17, 2020) there were 15 confirmed positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hamilton with an increasing number of travel-related cases from the USA emerging.
Further, Hamilton Public Health Services (PHS) has identified one new COVID-19 case that is not travel related and may indicate person to person transmission within the community.
The City of Hamilton is taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our community and ensure we’re prepared to respond to this situation as it evolves.

City of Hamilton COVID-19 Town Hall Q&A TONIGHT 7:00pm with Mayor Fred Eisenberger, Office of the Medical Officer of Health and Paul Johnson Director of the City’s Emergency Operations Centre.
The City of Hamilton will be hosting a virtual town hall on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in collaboration with Cable 14.
The town hall will be live on Cable 14 and streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel.
Residents are invited to submit questions for the town hall at www.hamilton.ca/covidquestions or via Twitter by tagging @cityofhamilton.
In order to promote social distancing, the town hall will only be presented virtually. In-person attendance is not available for residents or media.
