With the city receiving its first solid accumulation of snow this past week, you’ll start to see more City of Hamilton trucks, tractors, and bobcats clearing your neighbourhood in the coming months.

With that in mind, the Ward 8 Office wanted to share information about some Frequently Asked Questions residents may have when it comes to clearing streets after snowstorms, and share a site that tracks Hamilton’s plows in realtime.

City launching Sidewalk Snow Clearing Survey

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

Although we are still dealing with the August heat, the City of Hamilton is looking forward to the snow and ice we will be dealing with in a few months time.

With sidewalk snow clearing a hot topic of debate during the latter stages of 2019 into early 2020, the City is seeking out resident feedback to help measure and better understand the needs and wishes of residents related to sidewalk snow clearing during the winter months.

Where’s the Plow?

Knock on wood, but we’ve been rather fortunate this winter. With very few major snowfalls, we’ve avoided certain tasks like shovelling, salting and shovelling again after the plow passes!

But when we do get a good accumulation of snow, our office sometimes receives inquiries about why their street might have been missed or overlooked during clean-up. With that in mind, we thought some helpful tips could help answer some of these questions.
