Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
Upgrades to the current pumping station at the Garth Street/Stone Church Road Reservoir will be taking place starting February 3rd until the end of April. During this time, westbound traffic on Stone Church Road West (near Garth Street) will be impacted.
For more details, please continue reading below…
The upgrades at the Reservoir pumping station involve replacing water main valves located in a chamber underneath the north side roadway (westbound traffic) of Stone Church Road West.
A designated detour route is being posted for deviated westbound Stone Church Road West motorists to utilize: southbound Upper James Street or West 5th Street to westbound Rymal Road to northbound Garth Street. Detour signs have also been posted in the concerned area to help drivers anticipate the upcoming closures.

As the map indicates, all westbound traffic at Matthew St will be closed for upgrades to the water main valves. Residents in the Gourley area can still access Brigadoon Drive via Matthew Street.
Eastbound traffic along Stone Church Road West will not be impacted, although slight delays may be possible. The sidewalk on the north side of Stone Church Road West will remain open for pedestrians.
For HSR users, the detour impacts westbound Route 43 – Stone Church riders. The detour route will head south on West 5th, then west on Rymal Road followed by a northbound route returning to the Stone Church/Garth area before continuing along its normal route. Eastbound Route 43 – Stone Church riders will not be impacted by the construction.
As with any major construction project, please use caution driving or walking around the site, and a reminder that the westbound lanes will be closed starting at 9am on February 3rd until an anticipated end date of late April, 2020.
