The City of Hamilton has decided to close the Upper James Street stairs in order to safely proceed with construction on the new Keddy Access Trail.

In accordance with safety protocols due to the project, the City issued a media release earlier today about the Upper James St. stairs, which can be found below:

Claremont/Keddy Access Trail Update: Closure of James Street Stairs beginning today

HAMILTON, ON – In order to safely proceed with the construction on the Claremont Escarpment Access and the Keddy Access Trail, the City of Hamilton will close the James Street Stairs beginning later today until the fall.

The entire length of the James Street Stairs will be closed to ensure the safety of the public and construction workers around the heavy construction equipment needed to complete this project.

Given the significance of this project on the Claremont Access, the City has launched a dedicated project website to share timelines and more specific details: www.hamilton.ca/claremont
