What will LRT construction look like?

This post, from Aug. 29, contains information on the LRT construction phases.

Hamilton LRT Rendering

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

As the City prepares for the first phase of LRT construction, what exactly should residents expect once the shovels hit the ground?

For more details, please continue reading below…

Design and preliminary works are ramping up on the Hamilton light rail transit (LRT) line to get everything ready for when construction starts.

In addition to the LRT line itself – providing reliable rapid transit across the city – residents can expect new utilities built to modern standards and sized to accommodate ongoing LRT corridor development, a revitalized streetscape – which is designed and built to current complete streets standards

In addition, 14kms worth of new sewers, 16km of new water mains and 14 km of new, smooth roads and sidewalks are in the cards for the benefit of all residents and road users.

The video below, provided by Metrolinx, takes you through the steps required to transform the roadway from the existing state — designed primarily to move cars — into a modern transit corridor.
