Work slated for spring at Ryckmans Park

This post, from March 1, has details on upcoming work at Ryckmans Park.

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

After last summer’s new pathway connection and tree planting, more work is slated this spring for the southeastern Ward 8 park.

For more details, please continue reading below…

Last summer, a new asphalt pathway connection was installed starting from Aqausanta Crescent into the park itself. Along with the pathway paving, various tree species were planted along it as well as sodding around the pathway. In addition to that work, City staff did an extensive debris cleanup inside the naturalized area.

As fall approached, the entire naturalized area was mowed and rototilled in preparation for this spring’s work.

This Spring, work will include plantings of various tree and shrub species which will keep with the current aesthetic of the park and will reflect the species currently there. Outside of mowing behind the homes on Aquasanta Crescent, the plan is to have the park remain naturalized Other than the 3 metres of moving behind the homes on Aquasanta Crescent, the area will remain naturalized.

$102,000 from the Area Rating budget will be used on the remainder of the project. The planting of trees, shrubs and reseeding of the area will be performed by GMR Landscaping.
