Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,
Last week we brought you an update on a number of repairs/upgrades to the Westmount Recreation Centre, part of a Ward 8 priority maintenance list financed through the Ward 8 Area Rating Reserve.
For more details, please continue reading below…
Buchanan Park
The work at Buchanan Park focused on the multi-use building which, in a non-covid world, plays an integral part in the neighbourhood’s recreational and social fabric. From softball to supie, the building had seen better days.

As you can see in the gallery above, the structure’s brick was crumbling. In addition to addressing the brick issues on the building, the structure looked weathered in many sections and repairs to the soffit were badly needed.
The folks at Public Works did a tremendous job, as you can see below, with repairs to the brick work, new soffit installed and a new paint job.

Bruce Park
The work at Bruce Park was similar to the work at Buchanan Park, minus the brick work.
The Bruce Park building badly needed repairs to the soffit and fascia, as you can see below.
Public Works took the time to install new fascia and soffits to the main building, with the structure in line to be painted in the next few weeks.
The Ward 8 Office will soon have updated pictures of the work completed at Gourley Park and Walker Pool, and will share those with the Ward 8 community as soon as possible.
