Mohawk College is informing the general public and the campus community following a positive COVID-19 case at its Fennell Campus, concerning a student who was on campus as recently as October 19.

Update on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – October 24, 2020
In an effort to keep you informed of relevant changes related to Health & Safety, we want you to be aware of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case associated with Mohawk’s Fennell Avenue Campus.
The student involved attended the Fennell Campus on October 19, 2020 for class, experiencing no symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and followed all required protocols. All mask-wearing and distancing procedures were followed while on campus. The student later experienced symptoms, followed the appropriate steps and tested positive for COVID-19.
The student and Mohawk College have been cooperating with Public Health officials in relation to this situation. Hamilton Public Health Services has indicated that there are no college-related close contacts with this individual and therefore no risk to the college. It is vital that personal health information and identifiers are not released, and the privacy of everyone involved is respected.
Some people who may have had casual contact with the affected student are being asked to self-monitor their health for the next 14 days. They have already been notified.
As a reminder, we ask everyone in the Mohawk College community to continue to assess their health daily. If you are visiting a Mohawk College campus, respond to the assessment questions honestly on your Mohawk Safety app as part of the entry process.
