The Auchmar Estate, located at the corner of West 5th and Fennell Avenue, is a historic ground in the heart of Ward 8 – and is offering rare tours this summer.

Auchmar estate is considered to be the last surviving country estate on Hamilton Mountain.

Auchmar was built for Isaac Buchanan, a local Scotsman, entrepreneur, politician and civic leader in 19th century Canada. You can now enjoy a rare opportunity to tour the mid-century gothic revival manor and the walled and landscaped grounds that surround it.

Local guides will lead participants through the house, sharing stories about the architecture as well as the people who lived and worked at the estate.

Dates:  July 23, August 6, August 13, August 20, September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 15

Times:            12 pm, 1:30 pm and 3 pm
Cost:               By donation with proceeds going to the United Way of Hamilton. Pre-registration required.
