Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

As the City continues to manage the impact of the cybersecurity incident, Council and its committees will resume their vital work in a staged rollout over the coming weeks.

For more details, please continue reading below…

From the City:

City of Hamilton staff continue to manage the Cybersecurity Incident Response and the impacts on city operations. We recognize the urgency to resume Council and Committee meetings to move forward with council priorities in the best interest of Hamilton residents.

Please note these staged rollout to reinstate Council and Committee meetings over the coming weeks:

  • Schedule a Special General Issues Committee (GIC) meeting on March 27, 2024, at 9:30 am to advance time-sensitive issues that cannot be deferred to April committee/Council scheduled meetings.
  • Proceed with the March 27, 2024 Council meeting (to being approximately one hour after the adjournment of the Special GIC meeting) to advance deferred February 28, 2024 Council items and March 27, 2024 Special GIC reports.
  • Proceed with scheduled Council and Standing Committee meetings in April 2024.

Standing committee meetings scheduled for the week of March 18, 2024 are cancelled and items that are not time-sensitive will proceed to future Standing Committees.

Staff have been working to resolve some of the technology challenges posed by the Cybersecurity Incident to run Committee and Council meetings, prioritizing accessibility and in accordance with Procedural By-Laws.

More information about Council and Committee meetings will be posted online at www.hamilton.ca/cyberincident.
