Register for Recreation Programs, Youth in Construction and the Bookmobile is back!

This article comprises a few announcements, including an update from the Hamilton Public Library, registration dates for City of Hamilton rec programs and a Youth in Construction opportunity provided by Liuna.

In case you might have missed it, there were a few announcements this week from some notable Hamilton institutions. The Ward 8 office has compiled them in this post.

The City of Hamilton is opening online registration this coming Wednesday and Thursday and begins at 7 a.m. This is your best option for confirming space in your desired program. Online registration is strongly encouraged, however, limited in-person registration is available after 9 a.m.- during regular facility customer service hours.

The Hamilton Public Library’s bookmobile is back!

WHAT: HPL’s library on wheels is making stops throughout the community
with 12 weekly stops and eight biweekly stops, Tuesdays to Saturdays.

WHO: HPL Members can pick up their holds and return their library
materials at each Bookmobile stop. There’s currently no browsing
on the bus, due to health precautions.

WHEN: HPL’s Bookmobile offers a modified schedule for contactless returns and holds pickup (holds can be placed beginning September 28). Returned library materials are quarantined for 72 hours.

The 6th Hamilton Youth in Construction Program will now be accepting applications. Please see attached poster for details.

KEY INFORMATION

-supportive environment offered by LiUNA 867 facilitators and our Annex Navigator.

– $25.00 a day stipend

– FREE Personal Protective Equipment and work boots

-upon completion will obtain a certificate in Construction Craft Worker

– hot lunch provided by LiUNA catering for 8 weeks

– will be introduced to employers at completion of program

– youth can obtain 2 highschool credits upon completion of program

– Program starts October 5th to November 27th.
