City adjusts lead pipe by-law

Hello Ward 8 Neighbours,

Close to 20,000 homes across the City of Hamilton still have lead service pipes, which are found in many older homes built before the 1950s.

With a new tweak to the Property Standards by-law based on staff recommendations, the City is looking towards an eradication of the older lines and providing safer water supplies for all.

Linc to be closed for construction starting June 5th

This article, from June 2, contains information about upcoming closures affecting both the westbound and eastbound LINC.

The Linc will be closed starting this weekend, one direction at a time, to address deteriorating asphalt surface. The work will include spot repairs to asphalt some sections of shave and pave resurfacing, cleaning of catch basins, pavement marking replacement and some signage repair.

$68k Committed to Improve Ward 8 Sidewalks

The 70s and 80s era brought us many notable, local architectural achievements like the Central Library, Hamilton Place and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. However, the high back semi barrier curbs on sidewalks constructed throughout numerous new developments in the 1970s and 1980s within Ward 8 are not celebrated, and the committed funds will help correct inadequacies for homeowners.
